Roller Skating
Quad skating in all its forms — artistic, jam, park and rhythm, plus its own racing traditions.
Roller skating — on two-by-two quad skates — has its own century-deep culture and its own competitive disciplines. It shares the skating fundamentals with inline sports, and many communities mix both on the same rink floor or park bowl.
Quad disciplines
- Artistic skating: figures, dance and free programs judged like skating's classical branch.
- Roller derby: fast, tactical team contact sport with a dedicated ruleset and culture.
- Jam, rhythm and park skating: style-driven forms that grew through social media and skateparks.
- Speed and endurance events: quad racing persists in rink disciplines and events worldwide.
Quad gear in one paragraph
A quad setup is boot, plate, trucks, cushions, wheels and toe stop — and each of those is tunable. Cushion hardness changes how the skate turns; wheel hardness and width change grip and slide. The same maintenance logic applies as on inline skates: clean bearings, rotated wheels, tight hardware. Start with our maintenance checklist and adjust from there.
